This year marks the sixtieth anniversary of Harrop Engineering, and to recognise the occasion we would like to announce the launch of our sixtieth themed celebrations which include limited edition apparel, sixtieth themed events and products.
The diamond anniversary of Harrop is a significant milestone in the Australian automotive industry and is an opportunity to celebrate a true success story. Harrop Engineering is an Australian owned, engineering and manufacturing company established in 1955, with a rich history and roots embedded in Melbourne. Harrop Engineering was founded by Len Harrop in the inner city suburb of Brunswick in 1955 and was initially a small family business specialising general engineering for the textile and general trucking/haulage industries.
As the business grew, Len and Elsa Harrop’s son, Ron, joined after completing his boilermaker apprenticeship. Ron had a passion for motorsports and car modifications, so with Len’s technical skill and Ron’s motorsport passion the business evolved to automotive based engineering innovation. This is the foundation on which Harrop Engineering is built.
Today, Harrop is proudly owned by Adrad, another Australian based family owned group of companies. Success has continued as a tier one supplier for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Ford and Lotus, supplying Harrop developed supercharger systems for their performance models. Harrop has also established a very strong proprietary brand within the automotive aftermarket through design and development of superchargers, brakes, differentials and cooling products, manufactured in Melbourne, reaching globally.

"Our anniversary plans will pay homage to our rich heritage while continuing our 60 year record of engineering performance and community engagement."
Tim Harrop, Operations Manager and Grandson of Len Harrop sees the 60th anniversary as “A fantastic milestone and one Len would be incredibly proud of given the foundations he laid with Elsa, we have a great team of people who every day contribute to our success and position us for the next 60 years.”
The 60th anniversary events are intended to celebrate the skill and expertise of Harrop engineering and manufacturing teams, in addition to the recognizing the passion and energy of our customers and partners.
