At the end of 2016 we welcomed the Holden RG Colorado to the fleet with its 2.8L diesel powertrain and affordable price tag making the booming dual cab market even more competitive.

We set out to create another dual-cab capable of tackling the grittiest terrain in style, with equally comfortable manners for street driven use, while representing great value for our 4x4 enthusiast customers. Check out the articles below to see the upgrade journey of the Colorado.

SUSPENSION

Like all of our 4x4 vehicles we worked with the guy’s at Tough Dog to create a suspension package that can take the toughest off-road track in its stride as well as keep good road manners. We opted for 40mm Foam Cell Shocks and raised springs.

Where else would we look than our market leading ELocker when enhancing the RG Colorado Driveline. Available for front and rear axles, the Harrop ELocker engages and disengages at the flick of a switch distributing 100% of available torque to each axle when engaged.

With ELocker's equipped, the base RG Colorado is capable of tackling the toughest tracks around Australia.

PERFORMANCE

An exciting part of the Colorado Project vehicle was the development and validation of our custom ECU recalibration. Through access to the RG Colorado ECU and utilising our in-house hub dyno we enhanced the power and torque of the 2.8L Turbo Diesel to achieve gains of 15-20% power and 20-30% torque which is what the driver feels - boosting output, responsiveness and improving fuel economy.

Our RG Colorado was also fitted with a 3” Turbo-back exhaust and BMC air filter to deliver the performance it should have had from the factory.

A few subtle enhancements have been made to the customary white Colorado, none more notable than a set of ‘The Standard’ style Method Race Wheels in 17x9 and General Grabber Tyres 265/70/17.

These wheels really transform the look of the Colorado giving it a tougher and sportier demeanour.
